Do you have a sweet tooth? Are fats like cheese and creamy things what you crave most? Are you ruled by carbohydrates like bread, pastries and pasta? For many of us, the white stuff is our weak spot. If these are the foods that trip you up, keep reading.

When you have a craving there are often two components to that craving: a physiological component and a psychological component. To succeed you must tackle things from both angles. Shrink Yourself is designed to retrain your brain so that your psychological cravings go away. But what about the physiological ones? There are, in fact, certain foods that are more addictive. For years, programs like Overeaters Anonymous have asked people to eliminate white foods like sugar and wheat because those foods can create uncontrollable urges. Studies like the one conducted by Paul Shattock talk about The Opioid Excess Theory which speculates that peptides from improperly digested gluten (wheat) and casein (dairy) are mind-altering. Studies have shown that casomorphines (peptides from dairy) and gluten exorphines (peptides from wheat) have a similar effect as any other opiate. It's no wonder that you would crave them just as you would any other soothing or mind-altering drug. Therefore, if these are the foods that you crave consider approaching those cravings from two angles. While you're addressing the psychological part of them through The Shrink Yourself program, you may also want to consider the way that you're hooked physiologically to those foods.

I couldn't agree more but I think the real issue is having the fortitude to get enough time in without these substances so the cravings do not take over and so your body is cleared of them. I had gone for several months at one point without any wheat, sugar or dairy and then one day made the lethal mistake of ingesting sugar and wheat,,,,,I was in complete denial as I contiued the occasional indulgence all the while telling myself I will get back on track tomorrow and now I have gained every one of my 60 pounds back and I have once again disappointed myself. This vicious cycle is very hard on a persons self esteem and confidence. I am very overwhlemed at the thought of having 60 pounds to lose again.

shannon, don't give up on yourself, you are worth more then that. If you lost pds one time you can do it again, and with alot of knowledge to know what to do right this time. I would lose that pounds and proved to yourself that the white stuff will never control me again. I struggle with the white stuff and then I have to ask myself " why am I hurting my body so bad and why am I punishing myself" To many people and situation treat us bad, so don't let yourself to it. Now I am going to listen to my advise and do the samething. Easier said then done. But be grateful you have the chance to do it again and do it with more knowledge this time!! Go for it Girl!! Hope this helps. Princess Ruth

@ shannon: hi darlin i can totally sympathize with the struggle of losing and regaining weight. my life story. my whole life i have chose dreams that are involved in the arts: dance, music, acting and as everyone know Hollywood has messed up standards. im 5'6'' and body weight was always higher than it should be. i would do fad diets and also listened to advice to cut out all white products. I do agree that the body responds to no white foods with weight loss and the body should not have much of it. However, as someone with food addictions,ect... i know it can be tough. Sometime you cant give it ALL up at one time. You set yourself up for failure. Instead chose to limit your day to one meal that has it. Eat fruits, veggies, and lean protein all day but allow yourself one meal that has a SMALL portion of wheat, dairy,or whatever is it you love. You wont feel deprived cuz u r allowed it! The small portion keeps u from gaining weight but you get excited to have that meal and be slimmer. Hope that helps. sorry it was so long. my first comment on here

Yes I can totally relate as well, and what my fellow 'dieters' have written. I don't allow myself pasta for as long as it takes to create a healthy relationship to all food. Pasta was my heroin, I have binged on it for 15 years, feeling compeltely unable to stop. But I also think one shouldn't deny oneself too many things at the same time!!! Start small Shannon, and most important. BE NCIE TO YOURSELF! no more blame, no more dissappoinment! Just lessons in a big endless learning curve! yipee! xa.
